As the lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer hit us, youth in Lismore, Nova Scotia are setting records. Shelley MacDonald has been volunteering her time to train, organize and set up the region’s only day program for children and youth in the county.
Shelley says, “The training the camp counsellors and recreation leaders have received through youthLEADarts is really showing. They are doing extremely well as we have a record number of children and youth participating this year. At last count there were 65 children and youth enrolled. That’s a lot of participants for our small and dedicated staff to manage.”
Thanks to Melanie McDuff and to Shelley for all of their efforts to collaborate with the community to give kids a safe, fun and happy place to enjoy the summer and to make great memories!
